Welcome to our web-site where we hope to give you a glimpse into our life in France.

 

Our home is in a small development in Doué la Fontaine located 15 km west of Saumur and the Loire river. The town has a population of around 7500 and is famous for its roses, apples and troglodyte caves. We very much like the convenience of living in “Doué” a five-minute walk away from both the town centre with its very good weekly market and the countryside.

 

We are surrounded by ideal cycling country with woodlands fairly close and vineyards that come right up to the edges of town. The town is also well positioned within the auto-route system which gives us good access to both the rest of France and England.  Most sporting tastes are catered for including the usual hunting, fishing, walking, cycling and petanque as well as martial arts, swimming, handball, football and basketball. Sewing clubs, language and dancing courses are also found in the local halls.  A local group have recently started an English-French conversation evening which meets once every month for a lively hour or two of chat.
